Equipping the CLD practitioners and STEM Ambassadors with this training, the project’s main aim is to improve confidence in these groups, to then support families with numeracy upskilling via community-based learning opportunities.
They will then go on to use their training to support people in the community to feel good about maths, so they feel more able to engage with numeracy learning.
Running until March 2022, Phase 1 of the project intends to reach up to 20 CLD practitioners and 5 STEM Ambassadors, in each of the following regions:
-
West Scotland (completed November 2021)
-
Southwest Scotland (completed November 2021)
-
West Lothian & Forth Valley (beginning January 2022)
The funding from Education Scotland’s STEM Grants Programme is underpinned by their STEM strategy and Making Maths Count report.
If you are a CLD practitioner working in West Lothian & Forth Valley and are interested in getting involved in the project, please get in touch by emailing training@nationalnumeracy.org.uk by 5th January 2022
