We’re pleased to announce Ruchika Juneja and Karthik Pugazhendi at Capital One as our Volunteers of the Month for July.

Ruchika and Karthik delivered their joint My Maths Story assembly and supported the Maths in the Real World class session at Elmore Green Primary School in Walsall.

Melanie Frew, Year 6 teacher and Maths Lead said, "We want to take this opportunity to say how brilliant our volunteers were today... wonderful, informative and extremely enthused by their jobs... a credit to you and Capital One. The children had such a great time and have been enthused about maths in the real world. Thank you so much for our wonderful morning."

We were also pleased to hear the booking process was smooth, enabling busy teachers to easily support our volunteers, "Super communication from National Numeracy, all resources sent in time."

Karthik said, "I'm so excited to be a part of this. I enjoyed the entire process of volunteering at Elmore Green, especially the assembly session where the children were very curious and they were very eager to strike a conversation about technology."

In partnership, Capital One and National Numeracy have a shared commitment to addressing social mobility and supporting people with the number confidence to succeed in life. Capital One were the startup funder for National Numeracy’s Corporate Volunteering Programme and continue to demonstrate their support with their growing network of active corporate volunteers investing in communities, helping us to inspire children across the UK with meaningful maths in the real-world sessions for brighter financial futures.

As the school year draws to a close, we celebrate and thank the 120 volunteers from our corporate partners and supporters who have enthusiastically delivered assemblies and supported class sessions with 109 schools across the UK, supporting Number Confidence Week, National Numeracy Day and Volunteers' Week and reaching over 17,750 children.

Thank you too to all the wonderful schools who have hosted our volunteers, we hope they have a relaxing summer break and look forward to many more assemblies and class sessions in the autumn.

If you know a school that would like to host one of our corporate volunteers they can find out more and apply here. If you would like to take part on our volunteering programme your company can find out more about partnering with National Numeracy here.
