Number Heroes competition winners 2025!

14 Jul 2025

It's been another incredible year of National Numeracy Day Number Heroes, with 11,596 entries submitted by children across the UK!

After a thorough judging process, with fierce competition in every category, we are thrilled to announce the winners.

We invited children across the UK aged 3-13, including children and young people in receipt of Special Educational Needs support or an EHCP (Education, Health and Care Plan), to celebrate the magic of everyday maths by imagining and drawing all the ways they might use numbers when they’re older.

Every year we’re astounded by the variety of entries: we’ve had paramedics and prime ministers, surf instructors and spa owners, and even an alligator wrangler or two!

There were big prizes to be won

One winner from each of the six categories nabbed a prize pack worth over £1,000 for their school, full of resources, books and games to get everyone feeling confident with numbers. And there were individual prizes too, with each winning child and runner-up receiving a gift voucher and certificate.

These prizes were made possible thanks to generous donations from EdenTree Investment Management, Learning Resources UK, Little Tiger Press, Numberblocks, NumBots, Orchard Toys, Oxford University Press, Sweet Cherry Publishing, Times Tables Rock Stars and White Rose Maths.

Celebrity judge Bobby Seagull chose the winners

TV’s Bobby Seagull, National Numeracy Ambassador and competition head judge, had the tough task of choosing the winners from thousands of entries.

Bobby said: "Wow, another amazing group of number heroes! Each year I have the tough task of picking the winners, and I’m always blown away by everyone’s creativity.

"I hope you all feel inspired to be confident using numbers throughout your lives – I certainly feel inspired after seeing your entries!"

Quote from Primary B winner Amba Devi saying "“I took part in the Number Heroes competition, and it was AMAZING! I learned that numbers aren’t just for maths lessons—they’re everywhere! I’ll definitely be paying more attention in maths class now, that’s for sure! It was so much fun learning, researching, and creating my work—I loved every minute of it.” and Secondary winner Alice, saying "I really enjoyed creating this piece as my favourite hobby is dance and I loved researching and finding out all about how maths can link into dance, as well as many other things. I'm very pleased to have won the competition!"
